So you’ve thought about or decided to join Paisley Raye but you haven’t chosen a Paisley Raye sponsor yet. This is the simplest thing. You’ll want to be able to have a conversation, even the hard ones with your sponsor. Find someone you can communicate smoothly with. This is where interviewing sponsors come in. Friends don’t always make great sponsors. Unless you can have the difficult business-centric conversations with them without the friendship being impacted. I personally had a terrible experience with a friendship ending over a sponsor-downline relationship. The boundaries were blurry and feelings got hurt when I began to make business decisions that were not friendship centric but took into account my blooming business. This is one reason why I shy away from suggesting signing up under a friend. Find someone who can be a mentor and business associate, and help you put your business first. Aint nobody got time to build a badass boutique while also navigating friendship drama.
2. Find a Paisley Raye sponsor who is intentionally building a team.
Being on a direct sales clothing team is incredibly beneficial. Between being able to connect with more people (and make new friends!), you also have access to more leaders and people who have honed the skills you want to develop. You want to find someone who is working hard to grow as a leader and to teach other people leadership skills, not someone who accidentally became a leader and isn’t interested in rising to the occasion.
3. Find a Paisley Raye sponsor who is building a library of resources.
Your sponsor will not know everything, and they should not be someone who pretends to. Find someone who wants to grow and intentionally feeds their team with the resources THEY need to succeed as well. This can be inviting guests to speak, collaborating with other leaders, or hunting down blogs and trainings that their team needs to level up.
4. Find a Paisley Raye sponsor who values what you value.
Some teams value an empowerment culture, social relationships, and regular team training. Some teams value no drama, healthy boundaries, and inside jokes. Ask your sponsor what their team is like, how they connect, and what is the most important quality you need to know they have as a leader.
